My girlfriend booked us a surprise overnight stay at the beautiful Hidden Wood Glamping for my 40th birthday in early December. After a 35 min drive from Bath city centre we arrived (with a little guidance from the owner's as we'd arrived much later than expected and it was pitch black outside!) Unfortunately it had been raining heavily so we couldn't take the car past the interior gate, but there was an extra parking space for it by the gate. Everything is controlled with keycodes which were provided in advance and we had no trouble entering the grounds or the pod. The accommodation is an amazing little self-contained solar-powered eco-pod with hot and cold running water, an indoor toilet and shower, a double bed, a sofa which folds out into another double bed, there's a modern gas oven with grill and all the amenities you would need on a self-catering holiday. Despite the remote location there is a TV and WiFi is available, though we found we both had ample signal. Outside, just a few feet from the pod, you have a fire pit, hammocks and an outdoor hot tub with ample wood supplied, though sadly we arrived too late in the day to use this. All of this is tucked away miles from anywhere - though less than 15 minutes from Longleat - on the enormous grounds of a dairy farm. We didn't hear any livestock though, just some friendly pheasants and a couple of grouse! The hut was warm and cosy, clean and modern with everything you could need to have a quirky and peaceful break away from the city. I wish we could have stayed longer (and that we'd arrived earlier so we could have fired up that hot tub!)
